Properties

Glutaraldehyde is colorless or yellowish bright liquid with slight irritating odor; soluble in water, ether and ethanol. It is active, can be easily polymerized and oxidized, and it is an excellent cross-linking agent for protein. It also has excellent sterilizing properties.



Usage:

Glutaraldehyde is used as a disinfectant. It is used in sterilizing medical and dental equipment which cannot be heat sterilized. It is used as a fixative for biological tissues and for leather tanning. It is used as a chemical intermediate to produce other compounds.
